How to create a wifi hotspot using your cell phone.

Today, i have just arrived at Medan, Indonesia. I'm attending some examination for my study T_T. The first thing i want to do just now is to set up an internet connection because i'm from Malaysia and my celcom broadband cannot work here >.<. and i also just bought an axis sim card, but it is not compatible with the locked celcom modem. So, i tried to share the internet from my phone using this software.

Joikuspot application. credit to: www.binbert.com for the image

Here are the steps:
1. first, i'm doing this using nokia 5800 that are running based on symbian 60 version 5 operating system. so this tutorial may only apply for the cell phones with similar operating system.
2. if you have this kind of device( symbian 60 version 5), first thing you need to do is make sure that you already have internet connection on your device. to do this you can buy internet package from the service provider. then browse to your device internet menu, click the web and then click options, then setting, and then choose general, after that choose the correct access point that you are using. here, because i'm using axis internet, so i choose it as my access point.
3. then you need to download and install joikuspot application on your symbian device. here is the link: http://www.joiku.com/products/joikuspot_light
4. after that run the JoikuSpot application from your symbian device. the application will ask which connection you want to share, here you need to choose your mobile internet connection, and i choose AXIS here.

5. you can also set a password for this connection by choosing options> settings> Encryption ( here choose WEP shared) before you start the hotspot.
6. this application will create an ad hoc type hotspot, so it means that some android devices cannot connect to this network but pc usually have no problem to connect and share internet with this type of connection.
7. hope this help =)
